A Closer Look - Elle's Studio January Kit

happy monday! hope everyone had a good weekend! mine wasn't too productive as both me and ethan were down with a cold. i'm thankful that both of us are feeling much better today! i would like to share details on the project life folder i did using elle's studio january kit...

this folder is inspired by stephanie dagan's work that i found on pinterest. you can take a look at it here.
i started the base with piece of white cardstock. i trimmed to the size 11.5 inch X 8.5 inch and folded it into half at 5 inch from the left side. to decorate the cover,  i used a page from an old book and layered it with pieces from the kit and a rose brunch die cut and enamel dots from my stash. this page came together rather quickly as the pieces from the kit are all so pretty!

page 2 is simple, i layered a glassine bag with a page from the old book and a doily. to hold the pieces together, i clipped them with the 'love' tab from the kit. this glassine bag will allow me to keep some photos and notes that i will be using for my project life.

to create the pocket in the middle, i trimmed the 'too cute' patterned paper from penelope collection to the size 11.5 inch X 8.5 inch and folded it at 5.5 inch from the left. i placed it on the white cardstock from earlier and bind them together by hand stitching. next i used washi tape to seal the sides of the patterned paper to create a pocket.

for 2014, i would like to use post-it notes to jot down notes and i can stick them to my photos or memorabilia and hopefully make it easier for me to completed my spreads. hence, i created a matching post-it card for my folder. i simply used the lil' snippets tags sheet from the penelope collection as a backing and stick my post-it pad on it.

on the last page, i used 2 of my favourite 4 X 6 cards from the kit to create more pockets. i love that there are some new year resolution cards that i can jot down my goals for the year and slot them into the pockets to remind myself of what i set out to achieve in 2014.

i hope you enjoyed what i shared today. the kits are still available in the elle's studio shop at this point in time! do grab them before they run out! also remember to check out the coordinating stamp and digital die cut files!

thanks so much for dropping by!

Elle's Studio January Inspiration Gallery

hi and happy friday!
the design team january gallery is live today! its my first dt reveal at elle's studio and i am very excited! i had lots of fun playing with the penelope and noel collections and i can't wait to share them with you!

i also had the opportunity to get my hands on the exclusive january kit that goes on sale today! it's going for $9.99 from now until the end of today (after 12.01 am on the 11th, it will retail for $11.99)!

here's a look at the kit for january!
in addition to the coordinating die cuts files, a new stamp is released this month!

i used the kit to create this folder to help me organise my notes and photos for project life in 2014. i love the colors of the kit this month and it works perfectly with the penelope collection!

i also created another 2 layouts using penelope and noel collections...

i made this layout for my mother as a birthday present. the pink and purple colors in penelope are so sweet and are just right for her. i started the layout with some pink tissue paper and i love how it instantly adds layers. next i decide on where i want the photo to be and i had a fun time layering the labels and bits and pieces from the collection. i finished this layout by adding some butterfly diecuts, sequins, buttons, wood veneer and enamel dots.

i took this photo of ethan and his friends at a party this christmas. i love this photo and would like to make a layout with it so the noel collection was just perfect. i started with layering my photo with vellum, a page from a vintage book, journaling cards and a doily. next , i cut out the triangles from 'deck the halls' paper to form a christmas tree and decorated it with some of my favourite embellishments and pieces from 'oh christmas tree' wood veneer. I also cut out the numbers from 'countdown' paper and write the names of the kids on each of them to form a list. to add more interest, i stamped some arrows and finish with a date stamp and hashtags from the noel 'cheers' stamp.

have a good weekend!!!

Copper Mountain Reveal

it's here! studio calico january kit - copper mountain is live!

this is my first kit in studio calico scrapbook team so this is a special kit for me. i love the colours, the beautiful papers and embellishment in this kit. favourite items have to be the wood grain paper, wood veneer, chipboard dots, puffy hearts and the cute mini badges.

here's what i made this month! to see detail shots and what products i used, you can click on each of the layouts.

dreamy

this is a main kit only layout. i started this layout with the woodgrain paper as my background. i love the wood veneer and wanted to use it as a backing for my photo. i painted the wood veneer with white acrylic paint so that it will stand out better against dark paper. i added some patterned paper and vellum under the wood veneer to create some layers, then i filled up each of the circles with the colorful chipboard dots, a mini badge and stamp. to create the soft and dreamy feel I was looking for, i cut this month's star cut files by catherine davis using my silhouette cameo and vellum paper.

enjoy every moment

this is a main kit only layout. this layout started with this month's journaling card cut files by in a creative bubble. i love the hearts journaling card cut file so much i created a background with it. once my cut file is ready, i back it with the patterned paper and my background was ready. i placed my photo in the middle of the page and started layering the hearts from the cut file around it. to add more colors and layers to this layout, i used one of the hearts as a guide and hand cut more little hearts from vellum and the different patterned paper in the kit. to finish this layout, i added some puffy hearts, the airmail ribbon and some ink splatters using mr huey mist.

hello

for this layout, i used a mix of the main scrapbook kit, high point and fremont gladesI used the circle wood veneer as a stencil to create the background for this layout. I used a pencil to trace out the circles and used watercolor to paint. The fun part was to embellish the circles with the bits and pieces from the kits. this is one of my favourite photos of ethan. i love how this photo captures how much fun he had playing with the balloons under the hot sun! i wanted this photo to be the focus of my layout, so i kept it simple and finished with the hello cut file by hello forever as the title.

sunny bunny

i used a mix of the main scrapbook kit, high pointfremont glades and slingshot for this layout. ethan started going to pre nursery about 2 months ago. I love this photo of him in his uniform and carrying his little bag. i started with this beautiful patterned paper by prima marketing - are you on my radius? from high point. for more interest, i used the gold rub ons by hello forever on a piece of vellum and placed it as a backing for the love journaling card by in a creative bubble. the rest of the layout came together with layers of glassine bag, patterned paper under the photo and bits and pieces of the embellishments spread along the mist splatters i added across the page. to finish off the page, i tuck some of the beautiful mint green ribbon under the photo and a cute bunny paper clip to hold the papers together.

that's all for my first reveal at studio calico! thank you for dropping by and i hope you manage to purchase what you were planning to get this month. happy holidays!

i had to play with some watercolors too...

i love love love this paper from add on 2 - high point! i love the stamp in the main scrapbook kit. i used it to scatter these little coloured triangles.
