Sugar Rush Reveal

It's here! studio calico's february kit - sugar rush is now live!!!  this month's kit is filled with lots of sweetness and i'm so happy to receive the main scrapbook kit, rock candy (add on 1), jelly beans (add on 2) and gum drop (add on 3) from studio calico to play with. each of these kits are so pretty and i'm in love with them!
here's what i made this month! to see detail shots and what products i used, you can click on each of the layouts.

i love you more than ice cream

this first layout is made using only the main kit. I love these ice cream cut files by life love paper! when i saw these files for the first time, i knew i wanted to make a layout with this title, so i went ahead and cut the title and a bunch of  ice cream scoops, cones and cups using solar white card stockI backed the cute cone and cup shapes with patterned paper and used mist in double yellow, mary mary and sea foam to color the ice cream scoops. I also added the cute lollipop to complete this sweet layout!

love you always

this second layout is also made using only the main kit. when i saw the cut files from hello forever, i wanted to create a huge title with them. i combine 2 of the designs in this set to create this title. I back the words with 3 different patterned paper and used gold mist to color the 'love' word art. for this layout, i wanted to experiment and sprayed some gold mist on vellum. Once the mist dried up, I was left with translucent, textured and shimmery gold dots. I love seeing how journaling adds that extra touch to layouts so i decided to overcome my fear (of my ugly handwriting) and tried adding some journaling. i'm happy it turned out ok but i guess i need to practice more! :)

I love this photo of Ethan and his great-grandma. They always have the best time together and I'm glad I manage to capture this treasured moment. I started this layout by using watercolors to create a rainbow to match the colorful vellum hearts from the main kit. next, i added some embellishments on the vellum hearts by colour. one of my favourite in gum drop is the gold alpha sticker from the lemonlush collection. it's beautiful and i was very happy to use it for my title. to complete the layout, i sprinkled some neon sequins across the page.

love this with all my heart

for this last layout, I had lots of fun filling up the circles and hearts in this cut file by in a creative bubble with gelatos, stamps and the embellishments from the main kit, rock candy and gum drop. I used a twine to make a clothes line and attached the die cut frame and photo to it with a tiny wooden peg.
i hope you enjoyed my reveal of sugar rush! remember subscribers can start shopping now, for the rest of the public, reveal will go live on 27th at midnight EST/ 11pm CST and the links to sugar rush will not work till then.

thank you for dropping by and happy shopping!

Sugar Rush Sneaks

hello everyone! we so close to the reveal day for studio calico february kits - sugar rush

have you decided which kits to purchase? here are some of my sneaks using the scrapbook main and add ons! i hope these will make your decision! it's gonna be a tough month as the main and add ons are just perfect!!! i wouldn't know how to choose!!! ok, here we go...

this is a main scrapbook kit only layout. i love love love the ice cream cut files by life love paper! i cut a bunch of them using my silhouette cameo in solar white card stock, then i backed the cone or cup (yes there are cute ice cream cups as well) with patterned paper and mist the ice cream scoop. i love how the ice cream turned out! the mist made it looked a bit like real ice cream!

this is also a main kit only layout.  i used the amazing cut files from hello forever to make a large title in this layout. used lots of gold mist here as welll!

as usual i had to play with some watercolors to match the colors of the pretty vellum hearts. if you have been thinking about trying watercolors but haven't decided which one to buy, i would recommend the peerless transparent watercolor papers. it comes in 40 beautiful colors and are easy to use. they are now stocked up in the shop so do grab them before they run out again.

i put my silhouette cameo to good use this month! check out this pretty cut file by in a creative bubble. had lots of fun filling the circles with gelatos, stamps and embellishments from the main kit, rock sugar and gum drop. these gold dipped leaves are my absolute favourite this month!

subscribers reveal will be on 27th at noon EST/ 11am CST and for the rest of the public, it will go live on 27th at midnight EST/ 11pm CST.

thank you for dropping by and do check back later for the full reveal!

A Closer Look - Elle's Studio January Kit

happy monday! hope everyone had a good weekend! mine wasn't too productive as both me and ethan were down with a cold. i'm thankful that both of us are feeling much better today! i would like to share details on the project life folder i did using elle's studio january kit...

this folder is inspired by stephanie dagan's work that i found on pinterest. you can take a look at it here.
i started the base with piece of white cardstock. i trimmed to the size 11.5 inch X 8.5 inch and folded it into half at 5 inch from the left side. to decorate the cover,  i used a page from an old book and layered it with pieces from the kit and a rose brunch die cut and enamel dots from my stash. this page came together rather quickly as the pieces from the kit are all so pretty!

page 2 is simple, i layered a glassine bag with a page from the old book and a doily. to hold the pieces together, i clipped them with the 'love' tab from the kit. this glassine bag will allow me to keep some photos and notes that i will be using for my project life.

to create the pocket in the middle, i trimmed the 'too cute' patterned paper from penelope collection to the size 11.5 inch X 8.5 inch and folded it at 5.5 inch from the left. i placed it on the white cardstock from earlier and bind them together by hand stitching. next i used washi tape to seal the sides of the patterned paper to create a pocket.

for 2014, i would like to use post-it notes to jot down notes and i can stick them to my photos or memorabilia and hopefully make it easier for me to completed my spreads. hence, i created a matching post-it card for my folder. i simply used the lil' snippets tags sheet from the penelope collection as a backing and stick my post-it pad on it.

on the last page, i used 2 of my favourite 4 X 6 cards from the kit to create more pockets. i love that there are some new year resolution cards that i can jot down my goals for the year and slot them into the pockets to remind myself of what i set out to achieve in 2014.

i hope you enjoyed what i shared today. the kits are still available in the elle's studio shop at this point in time! do grab them before they run out! also remember to check out the coordinating stamp and digital die cut files!

thanks so much for dropping by!

Elle's Studio January Inspiration Gallery

hi and happy friday!
the design team january gallery is live today! its my first dt reveal at elle's studio and i am very excited! i had lots of fun playing with the penelope and noel collections and i can't wait to share them with you!

i also had the opportunity to get my hands on the exclusive january kit that goes on sale today! it's going for $9.99 from now until the end of today (after 12.01 am on the 11th, it will retail for $11.99)!

here's a look at the kit for january!
in addition to the coordinating die cuts files, a new stamp is released this month!

i used the kit to create this folder to help me organise my notes and photos for project life in 2014. i love the colors of the kit this month and it works perfectly with the penelope collection!

i also created another 2 layouts using penelope and noel collections...

i made this layout for my mother as a birthday present. the pink and purple colors in penelope are so sweet and are just right for her. i started the layout with some pink tissue paper and i love how it instantly adds layers. next i decide on where i want the photo to be and i had a fun time layering the labels and bits and pieces from the collection. i finished this layout by adding some butterfly diecuts, sequins, buttons, wood veneer and enamel dots.

i took this photo of ethan and his friends at a party this christmas. i love this photo and would like to make a layout with it so the noel collection was just perfect. i started with layering my photo with vellum, a page from a vintage book, journaling cards and a doily. next , i cut out the triangles from 'deck the halls' paper to form a christmas tree and decorated it with some of my favourite embellishments and pieces from 'oh christmas tree' wood veneer. I also cut out the numbers from 'countdown' paper and write the names of the kids on each of them to form a list. to add more interest, i stamped some arrows and finish with a date stamp and hashtags from the noel 'cheers' stamp.

to see more pictures of my folder and layouts as well as the list of products used, visit my gallery here... do check out projects by the rest of the amazing team too!

have a good weekend!!!
