Copper Mountain Reveal

it's here! studio calico january kit - copper mountain is live!

this is my first kit in studio calico scrapbook team so this is a special kit for me. i love the colours, the beautiful papers and embellishment in this kit. favourite items have to be the wood grain paper, wood veneer, chipboard dots, puffy hearts and the cute mini badges.

here's what i made this month! to see detail shots and what products i used, you can click on each of the layouts.

dreamy

this is a main kit only layout. i started this layout with the woodgrain paper as my background. i love the wood veneer and wanted to use it as a backing for my photo. i painted the wood veneer with white acrylic paint so that it will stand out better against dark paper. i added some patterned paper and vellum under the wood veneer to create some layers, then i filled up each of the circles with the colorful chipboard dots, a mini badge and stamp. to create the soft and dreamy feel I was looking for, i cut this month's star cut files by catherine davis using my silhouette cameo and vellum paper.

enjoy every moment

this is a main kit only layout. this layout started with this month's journaling card cut files by in a creative bubble. i love the hearts journaling card cut file so much i created a background with it. once my cut file is ready, i back it with the patterned paper and my background was ready. i placed my photo in the middle of the page and started layering the hearts from the cut file around it. to add more colors and layers to this layout, i used one of the hearts as a guide and hand cut more little hearts from vellum and the different patterned paper in the kit. to finish this layout, i added some puffy hearts, the airmail ribbon and some ink splatters using mr huey mist.

hello

for this layout, i used a mix of the main scrapbook kit, high point and fremont gladesI used the circle wood veneer as a stencil to create the background for this layout. I used a pencil to trace out the circles and used watercolor to paint. The fun part was to embellish the circles with the bits and pieces from the kits. this is one of my favourite photos of ethan. i love how this photo captures how much fun he had playing with the balloons under the hot sun! i wanted this photo to be the focus of my layout, so i kept it simple and finished with the hello cut file by hello forever as the title.

sunny bunny

i used a mix of the main scrapbook kit, high pointfremont glades and slingshot for this layout. ethan started going to pre nursery about 2 months ago. I love this photo of him in his uniform and carrying his little bag. i started with this beautiful patterned paper by prima marketing - are you on my radius? from high point. for more interest, i used the gold rub ons by hello forever on a piece of vellum and placed it as a backing for the love journaling card by in a creative bubble. the rest of the layout came together with layers of glassine bag, patterned paper under the photo and bits and pieces of the embellishments spread along the mist splatters i added across the page. to finish off the page, i tuck some of the beautiful mint green ribbon under the photo and a cute bunny paper clip to hold the papers together.

that's all for my first reveal at studio calico! thank you for dropping by and i hope you manage to purchase what you were planning to get this month. happy holidays!

i received my first studio calico kit less than a week ago and it was so much fun to work with! here are some sneak peeks of the layouts i made...

i love this wood veneer. i painted it white so that it will stand out from the dark woodgrain paper. i love that i can fill up the wood veneer with little embellishments from the kit. i used only the main scrapbook kit for this layout.

the cut files this month are amazing! i used one of the journaling cuts files by in a creative bubble as a background for this layout. this is also a scrapbook kit only layout.

i had to play with some watercolors too...

i love love love this paper from add on 2 - high point! i love the stamp in the main scrapbook kit. i used it to scatter these little coloured triangles.

i hope you like what you see so far. the reveal is in 3 days 4 hours so get ready to shop for your favourite kits and add-ons! Subscribers reveal will be on 27th at noon EST/ 11am CST and for the rest of the public, it will go live on 27th at midnight EST/ 11pm CST

Project Life - September - You Are My Happy

hello everyone! i'm back to share my PL for september. i am trying to catch up with my pl since it's almost the end of the year! i can't believe it's december! where have all the time gone???!!! i still got a couple of months that i missed out early in the year so i guess i just need to work harder and faster! as i am taking photos of my september spread, this little card "i will remember this day forever" reminded me of why i love working on pl. there are so many days and moments of my little boy that i want to remember forever and i am happy that i am able to capture all of them using pl. so i will still be working with pl in 2014 but maybe on a smaller scale since i still have problems catching up even when i am working on monthly spreads. i think i basically just need more scrapbook time! *laughs*

ok, back to my main topic for today, here's my spread for september! i made 4 pages this month and used mainly the studio calico "antiquary" pl kit. i initially thought the colors were difficult to work with until i started putting my spread together and i realised how wrong i am! turned out to be one of my favourite kit! :)

this is page 1 and 2. this is one of the rare months where i didn't have a lot of photos so instead of my usual design a page protector, i added design g.

since i didn't have that many photos, i had more space for filter cards! the filter cards in this kit are amazing so i'm happy i got to use the ones i love. the kit also came with these little badges. they were cute and i used up all 3 of them. the "dear lizzy" gold alpha stickers that came with the kit are my new favourite. i like how it adds that shimmer to page and they are just the right size.

this is a detailed shot of my title card for this month.

in page 2, i adhere my photo on a white tag and used the calendar stamp to indicate the date the photo was taken. as i am writing this post, i realised i made a mistake and circled october instead of september!!! blur me! got to redo that tag one of these days...

this is my favourite card for this page, the numbers on the card reminded me of how ethan is learning how to count from 1 to 5 so i used color coordinated sequins for each number.

this is page 3 and 4. i kept these 2 pages really simple as i wanted the photos and pretty cards to stand out.
here are some detailed photos...

love how this cute little camera charm adds some interest to the spread.

thanks for dropping by and i hope you enjoy the rest of this week.

Project Life - October - This is a story about...

hi there! i have just completed my project life spread for october and would like to share it with you! for the month of october, i created a 4 page spread using mainly the studio calico "double scoop" pl kit. i love the colors of this kit and of course the pebbles alphabet stamp which was included in the kit! i love how easy is it to add my own text to the cards using the alphabet stamp, however, i think i need more practice as they didn't turn out as well as it want them to *laughs*.

this is page 1 and 2.

my favourite card in this kit has to be the "this is a story about..." card so i used it as my title card this month. another favourite in this kit would be the gold labels. i love these labels as they make it easy for me to add journaling to my photos.

a piece of vellum strips by basic grey is included in the kit. it was pretty and i didn't bear to take it apart hence, i decided to use it as a filter card. i added a doily and stamped the words 'hugs and kisses' on it.

i also used this little template created by studio calico creative team member shanna noel. she designed this template to work with the circle stickers included in studio calico "cuppa" pl kit. however, i have not received my kit yet, so i used a badge from one of the older studio calico kits. if you like this template, you can download it here.

this is page 3 and 4. for this month's spread, i tried to keep it simple by using mainly products from the kit. i think it helps me cut down on the time required to complete the spread as i work with the cards and embellishments in the kit and not be overwhelmed by the other products from my stash.

a packet of woodgrain sequins was included in the kit. i love how it was packaged so i decided to use it as a filter card as well. i added a sticker from dear lizzy "polka dot party" for more interest.

that's all i got to share for today! i hope you enjoyed this spread as much as i did. thanks for dropping by and have a good week ahead!

Good Times

hello everyone, i’m dropping in today to share a layout i did last weekend using goodies from elle’s studio. i used a mix products from Cameron, saltwater and Penelope collection. i am amazed how seamlessly the colors and designs work together.  in this layout, i used this photo of ian and ethan to document the boys enjoying the good times, sleeping in and relaxing on a saturday morning.

i started with “endless summer” paper from saltwater collection. i hand stitched a heart as a background and used white thread here to keep the stitching subtle. then i added some mist and sequins along the stitching to outline the heart shape.

i wanted to add a flower to the layout but couldn’t find a suitable one in my stash so i made one using doilies. i layered the doilies on a piece of round cardstock and added a brad to secure them together.  i am surprised how it turned out and i love it! will definitely add this in my future projects.

to create a banner so i cut up the labels and cutouts from saltwater and Cameron collection and layer them under the photo. next, i added a ribbon and embellish it with some buttons, wood veneers and my favourite gold foil heart sticker. to finish off the layout, i trim the sides of  the “endless summer” paper and adhered it on “bows” paper from the new Penelope collection.

thanks for dropping by and I hope you enjoyed this layout
as much as I do.

Always An Adventure

happy thursday! i hope the week has been good for you so far. i had a productive weekend last week and i manage to come up with 2 layouts! it's quite an achievement for me as i am usually a very very slow scrapper. i only scrap at night after ethan falls asleep, which is about 11pm! hence, i have very limited time a day, it doesn't help that i can take a long time to decide the placements of my papers and embellishment. i need to learn how to scrap faster so that more can be done! here's the first layout i made with some elle's studio goodies i got from my local
scrapbook store.

i love this cheerful yellow background and i would like to use it as my background.  to tone down the yellow, i added some white acrylic paint and started spreading it with my brush and used the glitz giant roller in an attempt to create some texture. next, i used the studio calico noah outline stamp to add more design and interest to the background. I have some butterfly silhouette diecuts from my previous project around so I used them to create a strip down the page and it works as a base for me to layer the tags, tidbits and embellishments. I also layered tissue paper, patterned paper, vellum and doilies under the this black and white photo of ethan. i decided to use a black and white photo here so that it will stand out in this colorful layout.

here are some details of this layout...

Fun In The Sun

hello again. today, i would like to share a layout i made for studio calico challenge - use your scraps!

i first created a background with repeated frames using the stamp from studio calico "roundabout pl kit" and had lots of fun decorating the frames. i gathered some left over pl card, embellishments from mainly the sc "planetarium pl kit" and bits and pieces from my stash to fill up each of the frames. i also added some watercolours, hand stitching and mist to finish off the layout.

here are some detailed pictures:

i used the amy tangerine tag from sc "marks and co pl kit" as a stencil to pierce the design for the heart on my layout and hand stitched it. I also hand stitched the rays of a sun to complement my title 'fun in the sun'.

i tried the pebbles alphabet stamp (included in sc "double scoop pl kit") for the first time and love how it looks. I think i need more practice though.

The Sweetest Moments In Between

happy monday! i am here to share a layout i created for crate paper august creative weekly. the theme for this month's challenge is to use navy blue and sequins in your project.
you can read more details on this challenge here.

i started my layout using this whimsical balloon chipboard from crate paper "the pier" collection. it's one of my favourite elements in this collection and i have been saving it to work on a layout for ethan's birthday.  Using the colours on the balloon as a starting point, i created a background using some watercolors and mist. this is my first attempt using watercolors on a layout and i am happy how it turned out.

next, i placed the embellishments base on the colours on the balloons and background. to further highlight the navy blue colour on the page, i hand stitched part of the title 'moments in between' in navy blue thread. this word art is from paislee press 'downtime' element pack which can be found here.

sequins can be found in 3 different ways here. some are used to create a sequin heart, some are used as confetti in a shaker window and others are glued directly on the cardstock. i love how sequins adds color and extra sparkle to the page.

here are some detailed pictures...

products

all products are from crate paper "the pier" collection except:

resin flower clips: crate paper "maggie holmes"
emamel dots: my mind's eye
buttons: october afternoon "midway"
wood veener: studio calico "snippets"
white card stock: american crafts
others: vellum, sequins

I hope you have enjoyed this challenge as much as i did.
thanks for looking and have a great week ahead.
