Good Times

hello everyone, i’m dropping in today to share a layout i did last weekend using goodies from elle’s studio. i used a mix products from Cameron, saltwater and Penelope collection. i am amazed how seamlessly the colors and designs work together.  in this layout, i used this photo of ian and ethan to document the boys enjoying the good times, sleeping in and relaxing on a saturday morning.

i started with “endless summer” paper from saltwater collection. i hand stitched a heart as a background and used white thread here to keep the stitching subtle. then i added some mist and sequins along the stitching to outline the heart shape.

i wanted to add a flower to the layout but couldn’t find a suitable one in my stash so i made one using doilies. i layered the doilies on a piece of round cardstock and added a brad to secure them together.  i am surprised how it turned out and i love it! will definitely add this in my future projects.

to create a banner so i cut up the labels and cutouts from saltwater and Cameron collection and layer them under the photo. next, i added a ribbon and embellish it with some buttons, wood veneers and my favourite gold foil heart sticker. to finish off the layout, i trim the sides of  the “endless summer” paper and adhered it on “bows” paper from the new Penelope collection.

thanks for dropping by and I hope you enjoyed this layout
as much as I do.

Always An Adventure

happy thursday! i hope the week has been good for you so far. i had a productive weekend last week and i manage to come up with 2 layouts! it's quite an achievement for me as i am usually a very very slow scrapper. i only scrap at night after ethan falls asleep, which is about 11pm! hence, i have very limited time a day, it doesn't help that i can take a long time to decide the placements of my papers and embellishment. i need to learn how to scrap faster so that more can be done! here's the first layout i made with some elle's studio goodies i got from my local
scrapbook store.

i love this cheerful yellow background and i would like to use it as my background.  to tone down the yellow, i added some white acrylic paint and started spreading it with my brush and used the glitz giant roller in an attempt to create some texture. next, i used the studio calico noah outline stamp to add more design and interest to the background. I have some butterfly silhouette diecuts from my previous project around so I used them to create a strip down the page and it works as a base for me to layer the tags, tidbits and embellishments. I also layered tissue paper, patterned paper, vellum and doilies under the this black and white photo of ethan. i decided to use a black and white photo here so that it will stand out in this colorful layout.

here are some details of this layout...

Products

paper: elle's studio ("cameron", "penelope"), dear lizzy ("neapolitan")
tags/tidbits: elle's studio ("cameron")
white card stock: american crafts
button: october afternoon ("midway")
stickers: crate paper ("the pier")
brads: october afternoon ("midway")
wood veneer: studio calico
wooden peg: pebbles
enamel dots: my mind's eye
stamps: studio calico noah outline stamp, glitz designs arrow roller stamp
others: vellum, doily, wooden peg, gold foil heart sticker, sequins, ribbon, yellow star sticker, yellow label

thanks for looking!

Fun In The Sun

hello again. today, i would like to share a layout i made for studio calico challenge - use your scraps!

i first created a background with repeated frames using the stamp from studio calico "roundabout pl kit" and had lots of fun decorating the frames. i gathered some left over pl card, embellishments from mainly the sc "planetarium pl kit" and bits and pieces from my stash to fill up each of the frames. i also added some watercolours, hand stitching and mist to finish off the layout.

here are some detailed pictures:

i used the amy tangerine tag from sc "marks and co pl kit" as a stencil to pierce the design for the heart on my layout and hand stitched it. I also hand stitched the rays of a sun to complement my title 'fun in the sun'.

i tried the pebbles alphabet stamp (included in sc "double scoop pl kit") for the first time and love how it looks. I think i need more practice though.

The Sweetest Moments In Between

happy monday! i am here to share a layout i created for crate paper august creative weekly. the theme for this month's challenge is to use navy blue and sequins in your project.
you can read more details on this challenge here.

i started my layout using this whimsical balloon chipboard from crate paper "the pier" collection. it's one of my favourite elements in this collection and i have been saving it to work on a layout for ethan's birthday.  Using the colours on the balloon as a starting point, i created a background using some watercolors and mist. this is my first attempt using watercolors on a layout and i am happy how it turned out.

next, i placed the embellishments base on the colours on the balloons and background. to further highlight the navy blue colour on the page, i hand stitched part of the title 'moments in between' in navy blue thread. this word art is from paislee press 'downtime' element pack which can be found here.

sequins can be found in 3 different ways here. some are used to create a sequin heart, some are used as confetti in a shaker window and others are glued directly on the cardstock. i love how sequins adds color and extra sparkle to the page.

here are some detailed pictures...

products

all products are from crate paper "the pier" collection except:

resin flower clips: crate paper "maggie holmes"
emamel dots: my mind's eye
buttons: october afternoon "midway"
wood veener: studio calico "snippets"

others: vellum, sequins

I hope you have enjoyed this challenge as much as i did.
thanks for looking and have a great week ahead.

Project Life - June - Love You To The Stars

Hello again, i'm back to share to quick post on my project life for june. i completed this spread some time back but couldn't find time to share it so here it is! i am currently using project life as a baby album to document the everyday memories of my growing boy, ethan. i am working on monthly spreads and i usually have 4 pages for each month. i had too many photos in june so i added 2 extra pages. here we go...

this is page 1 and 2. i am using studio calico pl kit for may - planetarium.

my favourite cards this month are the morning, afternoon and evening cards which i used to highlight a regular day for ethan.

i have been seeing the studio calico noah outline alpha stamps quite often in the studio calico gallery, so i decided to purchase it after a consideration. it's quite an expensive stamp but it's totally worth it! love how easy i can add titles to my cards now with this stamp. i like the look of it plain or filled with watercolour.

this is page 2 and 3. in this spread, i mixed the planetarium pl kit with becky higgins midnight edition.

this particular weekend, we went to the art museum for an annual art exhibition for kids! the neutral tones of the midnight edition are great for the colourful pictures.

this is page 5 and 6. in this spread, i mixed the planetarium pl kit with some cards from older studio calico pl kits and papers from my slash.

i wanted to keep track of the list of words that ethan can say now so i wrote the list and slot it into the beautiful striped envelope from spencer pl kit.

that's all for my june pl spread. i am working on my july spread now and will share it once its done! thanks for stopping by!

Love You To the Stars

hi there! today i would like to share my first layout using mist. i bought a couple of bottles of studio calico mister huey color mist sometime back but did not have the chance to use them. i love the mist splatters that i have been seeing so much of, hence, i decided to try adding some to my layout.

this background paper is one of my favourite from the dear lizzy "lucky charm" collection. i love the subtle circular design on the paper and i wanted to place the photo in the middle so i started by adding splatters to form a circle.

for the title, i stamped the quote "love you to the stars" on white cardstock using the studio calico noah outline stamp. next i painted the letters with mist, cut them out and adhere to the page to form a semi-circle. for more texture, i hand-stitched (this is the time i wish i have a sewing machine!) a couple of circles along the mist splatters added earlier.

i then place the photo in the middle of the page and added a few pieces of patterned papers, vellum and a floral die cut from dear lizzy "5th and frolic" collection as layers.

since the title only forms a semi circle, i place some wood veneer stars, feathers, sequins and a gold foil heart sticker on the opposite side to balance it.

here are some detailed shots.

i'm happy with the results of the mist splatters and will definitely try them again in my next layout.
